Lesson number one, when you go to shoot delicious food and lovely spaces don't bring the camera and leave your card at home! As nervous/apprehensive as I was to shoot, in a public place, for the first time, I was all geared up and ready, but turns out Meet me in the morning is pretty photogenic anyway! How cute is that little old bench, I can picture myself sitting on that with some tea and a treat. Who's with me?
It's really such a pretty little area and space. Hidden in a quiet little corner off the busyness of camden street, this little café is located perfectly. I was driving up from Wexford and managed to get a parking spot just up from it. Ideal! When I went in it had just opened so I had a selection of tables to choose from, I sat at a little two seater close to the door, which was open so the gorgeous morning light just flooded in.
The menu is lovely and short, you can see that they use the freshest ingredients and everything is homemade, it changes based on what's available from their producers. Plus it means there's less I have to try choose from, I still managed to order two things, I had to have a little try of both when I was there. Why not! The granola is next on my list though! I'm not a coffee drinker so I went for water but they did have a lovely herbal tea selection and fresh juices which no doubt I'll go for next time.
You can tell the people who work here love what they do, the owners style is simple, mixing old and new and pulling it off so well! While I was ordering I could hear the chefs chatting about their prep plans for the day, it brought me right back to my days working in kitchens! You gotta love it to do it and they certainly do!
I went for the 'Eggs and Greens' and it was the best choice, I had it without the garlic yoghurt and couldn't resist the addition of some Gubbeen chorizo, this is literally the best chorizo, if you haven't tried it, do! It came with the most perfectly poached egg, loads of egg yolk action, and a drizzle of paprika oil which gave it a spicy kick, along with the most delicious wilted greens from McNally farm in Dublin. The greens are organic too, win win! Are your taste buds tingling yet? Wait for it....
I didn't stop there! I couldn't leave without having a little taste of their hazelnut and cacao butter. If I wasn't in public, that little bowl you see in the picture above, I would have licked that clean! Nut butter on warm rustic toast....does it get any better?
Without a doubt you can tell a lot of love goes into this little gem, from the decor to the food. They have put time into sourcing the best local ingredients and you can tell. I'll definitely be taking a trip back here, soon!
This is definitely a must to visit. If you do, let me know what you thought of it.
